Musings on work
As someone who has been working in the IT industry for quite some time, it is common for developers who work long hours often forget to catch up with what is happening around. This leads to a gap in the way they understand or formulate any solutions.
Recently, I was talking with someone from my team about various improvements that can be implemented in the product, and I was surprised that this person had no idea what is Redhat. This got me thinking, am I wrong to talk on these topics which will not yield any results, or is the person so busy with their life that they don't want to explore anything beyond their work.
There are no set rules that measure or quantify a person's knowledge of the current trends in the industry. It is individual interest and how much time they dedicate their time for acquiring new skills.
Does this affect productivity? It depends on how the developers in the team have matured. A more mature team does not equate to a fully productive team. Various factors may lead to a reduction in performance.
