Model Context Protocol
The world of Generative AI is evolving at a rapid rate, and this evolution has been further accelerated by the introduction of a new protocol: the Model Context Protocol.
The Model Context Protocol (MCP) is an open standard designed to enable seamless, secure, and real-time communication between AI models and external data sources or tools. At the heart of this protocol is the MCP server, which serves as a bridge connecting AI assistants to various data repositories, APIs, files, and services, eliminating the need for cumbersome, model-specific integration code.
There are MCP servers for many popular products popping up, and it's convenient to use them for everyday tasks. These servers are easily integrated into AI desktop products like Claude Desktop, IDEs like Cursor, etc.
MCP has a good scope in terms of application, but it is still an evolving standard and will be a game-changer for products of tomorrow.
